Many years ago when working for a local large golf cart dealership I made an amazing discovery. First I would have to say that more than 75% of our repair calls were battery related and I also learned that golf car owners are given a lot of misinformation on their battery care and maintenance. Batteries are a large expense and would last longer with proper care. Bad batteries can be the cause of many other problems. It was at this time I decided to go straight to the source and asked Trojan Battery if they could send a representative for me. I went straight to the horse's mouth for how you really want to take care of them.
What I learned first, water level is extremely important not too little and not to much, just a 1/4" above the plates. Golf car batteries boil during charging and it is imperative the water be at the proper level. More shockingly I learned that Golf Car batteries love to be charged and it is a nail in their coffin for every discharge, we recommend our customers not let it go less than half charge.
